Speak Softly Carry Big Stick - JLS
A US Intervention in Latin America themed video for the track "Speak Softly, Carry Big Stick" off the Un Año de ODIO, Un Siglo de Miedo album by Dominican Republic metal band, JLS.
The video begins with this quote from the Monroe Doctrine :
"We owe it, therefore, to candor and to the amicable relations existing between the United States and those powers to declare that we should consider any attempt on their part to extend their system to any portion of this hemisphere as dangerous to our peace and safety."
and ends with Excerpt from a speech delivered in 1933, by Major General Smedley Butler, USMC.
"I helped make Mexico, especially Tampico, safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefits of Wall Street. The record of racketeering is long. I helped purify Nicaragua for the international banking house of Brown Brothers in 1909-1912 (where have I heard that name before?). I brought light to the Dominican Republic for American sugar interests in 1916. In China I helped to see to it that Standard Oil went its way unmolested.
During those years, I had, as the boys in the back room would say, a swell racket. Looking back on it, I feel that I could have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents."

La agrupacion de Rock JLS que liderea Leo Susana,prepara lo que sera un único concierto de despedida de la banda de los escenarios dominicanos.
"No es el final del proyecto per se, pero por ahora no habra mas JLS en RD", dijo Leo, que prepara sus maletas para España, donde piensa hacer vida artistica por el momento.
"Es una primera etapa en la que pienso que tambien puedo explorar otros lugares, quizas argentina".
En este concierto de despedida Leo Susana en la voz y guitarra, Allan Leschhorn en el bajo y Luinis Quezada en la bateria interpreteran una gran parte del repertorio del grupo desde temas de la primera produccion Testigos de la Historia, pasando por Serpiente en el Huerto y terminando con Un Año de Odio la mas reciente produccion de JLS
El concierto de despedida sera en el Rincon de la Zona, antiguo bar Cubania, en la zona colonial a las 10.00 P.M.
El precio de entrada es de RD$150.00 p/p e incluye un trago de bienvenida.

El Dvd del Patra 3 en Vivo en Las Ruinas de San Francisco que fue grabado en audio y video el 13 de Feb de 1998 estara a la venta en version DIY. Habran un numero limitado de copias, asi que si les interesa, llegue temprano.
El CD de Serpiente en el Huerto estara a la venta.
y alguna que otras copias de otros materiales de JLS.

JLS, the power trio led by Leo Susana bids farewell to the stages of their native Dominican Republic in what will be one last show.
"It's not the end of the project, but for now there will be no more JLS in DR", said Leo, who's packing for Spain where he will lead his artistic life for now.
"It's a first step where I think I'll be exploring other places, maybe Argentina."
In this farewell concert, Leo on vocals and guitar, Allan Leschhorn on bass and Luinis Quezada on drums will run through most of the classic JLS material from their first album "Testigos de la Historia" (Witnesses of History), some highlights from "Serpiente en el Huerto" (Snake in the Grass) as well as tunes from their most recent "Un Año de Odio, Un Siglo de Miedo" ( A Year of Hate, A Century of Fear)
The concert will take place on friday, feb 17, 2006 10pm at Rincon de la Zona in the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo.
